Leased Lines · Isle of Wight

Leased lines on the Isle of Wight, with independent advice on what reaches your site.

A leased line is a fibre connection that's yours alone, with the same speed up and down all day and a committed fix time behind it. We check which networks reach your address, compare them honestly and look after the line once it's in.

Leased line or broadband?

How a leased line compares with business broadband

Bandwidth

Yours alone

A leased line isn't shared with neighbouring businesses or homes, so speed stays steady through the day.
Uploads

The same speed up as down

Useful for cloud backups, video calls, VoIP and guest WiFi.
Fault fixes

A committed repair time

Leased lines come with a fix-time commitment, unlike most broadband.
Cost

Higher, but predictable

Monthly costs are higher than broadband, and installs can involve construction charges. We set it all out up front.
Best for

When the connection can't go down

Busy offices, schools, hotels, surgeries and multi-site businesses.

Independent advice

Which networks reach your building?

More than one network operates on the Isle of Wight, and what's available can change from one street to the next. Because we're not tied to a single provider, we check what can actually reach your address and compare the options honestly.

Then we look after the line once it's in, alongside your phones, WiFi and cabling, so there's one local team to call if anything goes wrong.

How it works

Getting a leased line in

Leased lines take longer to install than broadband, so the earlier the check, the better.

1

Availability check

We find out which networks can reach your address and roughly what it costs.

2

Survey and quote

Speed, network, backup and any construction charges set out in writing.

3

Installation

The network brings fibre to your building; we set up the router, firewall and backup.

4

Local support

Faults reported to us, chased by us, and fixed without you queuing on a helpline.

FAQs

Leased lines: your questions

How long does a leased line take to install?

Usually several weeks, and sometimes longer if new fibre has to be laid to your building. The availability check gives you a realistic timescale, so it's worth starting early.

How much does a leased line cost?

It depends on the speed, the network and how much work is needed to reach your building, including any construction charges. We give you a written quote with all of that set out before you sign.

Do I need a leased line, or will business broadband do?

Many smaller businesses are fine on good business broadband. A leased line makes sense when the internet is critical to the business, when lots of people rely on it at once, or when you need fast uploads. We'll tell you honestly which you need. See business broadband.

What happens if the leased line fails?

Leased lines come with a fault-fix commitment from the network. We can also add a 4G/5G or broadband backup so the business stays online while it's repaired.

Can you get a leased line to rural parts of the Island?

Often, yes, though the cost and timescale vary with distance to the nearest fibre. The availability check tells you what's possible at your address.
