VoIP · Isle of Wight
Hosted and on-premise VoIP phone systems for Island businesses. Yeastar P-Series, Yealink handsets and the Linkus app, with your existing 01983 numbers. We check your broadband, install every phone and stay on hand afterwards.

What VoIP means
VoIP (Voice over IP) means your phone calls travel over your internet connection instead of an old copper phone line. Your desk phones, mobiles and laptops all become part of one business phone system, using the same 01983 numbers.
Every UK business line is moving to digital before the analogue network closes on 31 January 2027, so most businesses on the Isle of Wight will end up on some form of VoIP. The question is whether it's set up well.
What you get
Answer your 01983 business number on a desk phone, mobile or laptop with the Linkus app.
Queues, ring groups and out-of-hours routing, so callers don't hit a dead end.
Answers, routes and takes messages when your team can't, with call transcription and summaries.
Add a user or a site without new lines, just a new handset or app login.
Why a local installer
National VoIP providers often ship handsets and leave you to plug them in, then route problems through a helpline. When call quality drops, it's usually the network, the router or the broadband, and nobody on the phone can see any of those.
We visit, check your connection and cabling, set up every handset and app, train your team, and come back if something needs changing. If your line needs upgrading we'll tell you, and we can supply business broadband or a leased line too.
How switching works
Most small offices are switched over in a day, with numbers ported so calls keep coming in.
We look at your current lines, system and broadband, and what needs to change.
Hosted or on-premise, handsets, and any line upgrade, in a fixed written quote.
Handsets fitted, apps set up, numbers ported and your team shown how it all works.
Changes and fixes handled by the engineer who installed it.
Reviews
"We are loving our new phone system and the service that goes with it. The initial installation was a smooth transition from our old system with plenty of instruction on how it all works. The after care is spot as Jamie is always there to answer any queries or tweek things to suit our needs here at J A Dempsey Civil Engineering."
Steve, J A Dempsey Civil Engineering · Google Review"We have used Jamie and Island Telecom for all of our telephone needs for many years. Jamie is the most helpful and lovely person, and offers a very efficient and professional service. We wouldn't use anyone else!"

Yes, when it's set up properly on a decent connection. Most VoIP problems come from poor broadband or a badly configured network, which is why we check both before anything goes live.
Calls can be set to divert automatically to mobiles, and the Linkus app keeps working over 4G or 5G. For extra resilience we can add a 4G/5G backup line that takes over if your main connection drops.
Yes. We port your existing numbers across, and you can add new local or national numbers if you need them.
Less than most people think. Each call uses roughly 100kbps in each direction, so upload speed and line quality matter more than headline speed. We'll check your connection as part of the free line review.
Broadly, yes. VoIP just means calls travel over the internet. A hosted system is VoIP where the phone system itself lives in a data centre rather than in a box on your wall. We install both hosted and on-premise VoIP systems.
Yes. VoIP already runs on the digital network, so moving to it is one of the simplest ways to get ready for 31 January 2027.
